Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a concierge medical practice?

A concierge medical practice, also known as concierge medicine, provides premium-level care and access exclusively to patients enrolled as members. The number of members is limited. Patients typically pay an annual or quarterly fee, known as a membership fee, to receive exclusive access to their physician as well as a range of other services and benefits.

Concierge practices purposely keep their number of patients low so that each patient can experience more personalized and higher quality attention from their physician through longer appointment times and more direct access. In most cases, patients can speak with their personal physician within 24 hours and schedule an office visit within days.

  • Who are the physicians at the Center for Executive Medicine (CEM)?

Dr. Eleanor C. “Connie” Mariano is the primary physician at CEM. Her background and experience have provided her with exceptional qualifications ideally suited for the high level of care and service expected in a concierge practice.

Dr. Linda Eller, an Arizona native and the most recent physician to join CEM, is passionate about focusing on the whole person and takes a more holistic, functional approach in medicine. Her impressive background, qualifications, and experience in preventative care, chronic conditions, illnesses, and medical aesthetics make Dr. Eller well-matched to providing elite concierge medical care.

As we have received tremendous interest in CEM, we continue to add more options to our suite of services.

  • What is concierge about CEM?

In addition to providing exceptional medical care, our patients may use the CEM Admin Team much like an executive assistant. The CEM Admin Team is comprised of administrative healthcare professionals, who work diligently to assist patients with scheduling and coordinating appointments at CEM and 3rd party healthcare providers. Members of the team are available in the office and virtually, so we can best accommodate patients when they need it most. We strive to offer every patient an itinerary that fits into their busy schedules, and the team has done their job when they can provide our patients with a personalized concierge experience.

  • What are CEM’s hours?

Patients may schedule in-office or virtual appointments. Availability is typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, except for holidays.

Patients may also call or email with their physician directly.

  • Is Medicare or commercial insurance accepted for payment?

No, CEM does not participate with Medicare or commercial insurance. Patients are invoiced for their office visit and other services after their appointment. For Medicare, CEM is considered a non-participating Medicare provider. Generally, this means that CEM will send the patient’s request for reimbursement to Medicare on behalf of the patient. This is the same approach adopted by many other healthcare providers, such as Mayo Clinic.

For commercial (or traditional) insurance, the CEM is an out-of-network provider. Patients pay for their office visit and other services after their appointment. CEM will send the patient requests for reimbursement to the patient’s insurance carrier, and based upon the insurance coverage, the insurance carrier may reimburse the patient directly. We recommend that you review your insurance plan to verify your specific out-of-network benefits and coverage.

  • Can members be referred to Mayo Clinic?

Dr. Mariano’s practice has developed a strong connection to Mayo’s Referring Physician Center to provide access for her patients wishing to receive specialty care at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. However, Dr. Mariano also has strong referral relationships with non-Mayo physicians for those patients wishing to obtain specialty care outside of Mayo as well. Dr. Mariano firmly believes in providing referrals to those facilities that have a demonstrated track record as being of the highest quality in both patient care and customer service to her patients.

  • How can I gain membership in the practice?

Please contact Center for Executive Medicine at (480) 945-2494 or send an email request to contactus@cemedicine.com.

  • When is payment of the enrollment fee expected?

The annual membership fee is due upon sign-up. We assist patients through our onboarding process that supports a strong relationship between them and their doctor.

  • What period do my enrollment fees cover?

The annual period of the membership begins when the annual membership fee is received, unless otherwise arranged.

  • Are any medical services included in the membership fee?

Yes! The membership fee includes an Annual Executive Health physical examination, and a number of office visits each year. The fee also allows for direct access to your physician and 24/7 access to your CEM Admin care team.
